If the part is unhardened I have seen pretty good results achieved by angling the compound so that you can sneak up on the dimension ever so carefully which eliminates the need for tool post grinding.

I had to make a few minor modifications like trimming the belt guard support bracket so that it would go on while the grinder was mounted to the compound rest but this is a very small thing for anyone who is going to use this piece of equipment.
